DIMENSIONS: 34" H x 44" W. Maria Anto (1936 - 2007) was active/lived in Poland. Maria Anto is known for Atmospheric, dreamy and disturbing landscape and interior scene. Born: 1936 - Warsaw, Poland.
Maria Anto (1936 - 2007) born in Warsaw on December 15, 1936, studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the direction of Stefan Pluzanski and Michal Bylina. In 1963 she took part in the Art Biennale in Sao Paulo. She regularly exhibited in the country. She quickly developed her own style of painting, poetics and mood that distinguish her painting from contemporary ones.
The flimsy, ethereal figures from her paintings, close to the creativity of the primitives, find themselves in unreal landscapes and interiors, far from the rules of perspective, but close to the logic of dreams. The fairy-tale, dreamy atmosphere of the scenes painted by her is also highlighted by the dark colors, sometimes brightened with violent streaks of light. During martial law, Maria Anto took part in independent artistic life. She exhibited her works at church and private exhibitions (including on regular "Meetings with art" in the parish of the Divine Mercy in Zytnia in Warsaw).
