LARGE Levy (Jules Benoit) Oil Painting HUNTING 28X50in 19th c French ANTIQUE

  

Late 19th Century Original Oil Painting by Levy (French, likely). Framed in oak, total size 28" by 50". Here's an exceptional oil painting from the late 1800s!

And mallard sit lifeless among onions and turnips, awaiting preparation into a scrumptious feast. This piece is signed in the lower left-hand corner j [or i] Lévy. The canvas has four cast iron stretchers, each dated 1885 on the back corners of the canvas frame. This, plus the similarities to Jules' oeuvre, lead me to believe this work was painted by him in the late 1800s.

This is an original framed oil painting. The painting is surrounded by a thick, antique oak frame with gorgeous detail and peg construction. The frame is likely original to the work.

This painting is in EXCELLENT condition. It could use a surface cleaning, but does not greatly suffer from damage. The surface shows very few signs of cracking or damage besides a few, almost invisible pinhead spots of surface wear and a gentle crease along the top edge where the canvas meets the wooden frame. The frame has moderate surface wear and some chipping in corners.

This piece is ready to hang, and, even without conservation, would make an excellent display item! Canvas size: 22 in by 44 in (56 cm by 112 cm). Framed size: 28 in by 50 in (71 cm by 127 cm). Your item will come from a pet and smoke-free home.
