Born in Marysville, MO on Jan. Glass attended the Art Students League in New York City; Massachusetts School of Art, and Breckenridge School of Painting. Paintings by Bertha Walker Glass were exhibited at the San Francisco Art Association Gallery at the San Francisco Museum of Art. They represent a variety of treatments and motifs from New York, Gloucester, Missouri and many other regions.

Her paintings brilliant in color and vigorous in expression, and all bear evidence of a most thorough training and a tranquil taste. Glass began her training in art at the Massachusetts Art School in Boston. After being graduated, she studied at the Art Students League in New York and at the Breckenridge School of Painting. Eighteen summers she spent in Gloucester painting and taking an active part in the Summer art colony there.

Good friend of Haley Lever, David Burliuk and the other leaders of the colony, she exhibited at the North Shore Arts Association and helped found the Gloucester Society. She also studied in Woodstock with Andrew Dasburg and Charles Rosen and made four trips between New York and San Francisco through the Panama Canal to paint scenes of Central American ports for the Grace Line. Some eight years ago she left New York for San Francisco to make her home. Her work has been shown frequently since then at the San Francisco Museum of Art in exhibitions of the San Francisco Art Association.
