The balanced composition plays homage to many of the artist's works. Most notable is the leaning tree which extends over the glass-like surface of the water. A fisherman in a small skiff can be found underneath the hanging branches of the tree which anchors the composition. The use of silver and grey tones conveys a serene, dream-like atmosphere to the painting.
The canvas measures 19" by 25" to sight and 22" by 28" in the gilt, composite frame. The paint surface is in very good condition. Craquelure is present on the top right corner. There is a signature "Corot" on the right corner.
