FANTASTIC PAINTED REGAL IRIS PARLOR VASE - GONE WITH THE WIND LAMP BY PITTSBURGH - CIRCA 1900 - 1905. Up for sale is a beautiful opalescent and painted glass Victorian parlor vase lamp, or more commonly known as a Gone With The Wind or GWTW lamp. When new, they were called PARLOR VASE or CHAMBER LAMPS. These lamps were extremely popular in the late 1800's up through the early 1900's. This particular lamp was made by the PITTSBURGH LAMP, BRASS & GLASS COMPANY of Pennsylvania, also known as PILABRASGO.

Pittsburgh was in competition with other high-end lamp companies such as FOSTORIA and CONSOLIDATED. The glass shade and base are blown-out and then painted with rich purple-rose and green and yellow flowers. It sits on a brass base popular with this model. The glass has no breaks, cracks or repairs that I find.

There are some minute fitter chips on the bottom of the top shade, which is typical. I have not cleaned this lamp and it does have dirt and dust from years of display, but I will leave any cleaning to the new owner. This has the original SUCCESS font and burner and is still in oil. I have not tested it for leaks.

It does not have the flame spreader or a chimney. The ornate shade holder does have a small area where some of the brass is missing. The base is in remarkably good condition and retains much of the finish. The original brass shade ring sits on top of the shade and is also in very nice condition. This is an especially large piece.

The lamp stands about 26.5" high overall and is about 10" wide at the shade. The base itself is 8 wide.

Please understand that because of the size, age and fragility of this piece, packing does become more expensive. The pictures are part of the description so please examine them for additional information. These are all unique items and often one of a kind.
