Figure In A Cloudy Landscape, 19th Century. 19th Century extensive view of a figure in a cloudy landscape, oil on canvas signed. Excellent condition preliminary sketch signed bottom right "J Constable" and dated 182? UV inspection shows the signature is original to the painting. Good example of the artists work who was a prolific sketcher and produced a vast amount of preliminary studies during his active period. The work is new to the market coming from a private estate through descent and would benefit from further research/formal authentication. Presented in an antique gilt frame.
